Come bask in wonder at the beauty of the night sky! Orient yourself in place by learning how to find the directions using the stars. Place yourself in time by learning the histories and mythologies of the stars that humans have been drawing, speaking, and writing for tens of thousands of years. We are of the first generations who know so very little. But the stories are not forgotten!! With a green laser pointer in hand, Megan will trace the constellations, teach star names, and show how the different celestial bodies move through the night, the seasons, and years. We'll see the Scorpion, the Swan, the Dragon, and so much more.
This class will take place at a park where camping is available! The location details will be provided to registered attendees closer to the date, but folks interested in reserving a campsite can email registrar@driftlessfolkschool.org to receive those details ahead of time.

Sliding Scale Course Fee Guidelines
Supporter Level Ticket: $70
If you move through the world with financial ease and the means to fulfill many of your wants as well as your needs – you are able to eat out when you want, abundantly meet your needs through employment or can comfortably not work, have access to family wealth, own property, etc. – consider paying at this level, which will help us ensure the long term sustainability of our programs while keeping our offerings accessible to those with access to fewer resources.
Sustainer Level Ticket: $55
If you are able to meet your needs with relative ease while budgeting your educational and entertainment spending – for instance, you are able to take classes and eat out occasionally as long as you are mindful – consider paying at this level, which will help sustain the work of the Folk School at a modest level.
Supported Level Ticket: $40
If you struggle to fund your basic needs and have limited access to resources in your family and community, or if you would not be able to access this offering without a discounted payment option, consider paying at this level. We value your presence and contributions to our community and do not want any economic circumstances to be a barrier to attendance!
Instructor Bio — Megan Eberhardt
Megan Eberhardt is cultural activist and community songleader based out of Chicago, Illinois. She spent a decade of her adult life living in Northern California where she dove deeply into the study of nature connection and cultural regenerative arts. It was there she apprenticed with an astronomer for over 8 years and began teaching the stars, studied with thinker and author Martin Prechtel, and began organizing community song circles and grief ritual. Now returned to her roots here in the Midwest, Megan currently leads monthly song circles at Chicago’s Old Town School of Folk Music, facilitates community grief ritual, and teaches the stars whenever and wherever she can. At the heart of her work is her devotion to fostering aliveness, belonging, and connection in and among us and with the natural world.
