Julie sits down with Thoreau College Fellows, Annie Kelly and Will Young, to talk about their experiences being Fellows at Thoreau College and the Driftless Folk School.

Annie Kelley – Administration and Development Fellow
Annie Kelley is excited to return as this year’s Administration and
Development Fellow after attending Thoreau College as a student from
2022-23. She recently received a BA from Oberlin College, where she
studied Religion and Studio Art, and has also completed a course of
study at Deep Springs College. Her experiences as a student left her
with a strong belief in the power of holistic education to create
thoughtful and connected young adults and she is looking forward to
developing the skills necessary to support the administration of
experimental higher education. She is also delighted to return to the
Driftless, a bioregion which she loves to explore through hiking, and
to capture in painting and poetry.
Will Young – Driftless Folk School Fellow
Will grew up in the Pioneer Valley of Western Massachusetts, an abundant oasis of art, craft, nature, and sustainable agriculture, all of which shaped Will’s values as they evolved into the person they are today. Will recently graduated from Oberlin College with a BA in Creative Writing, where she was fortunate to spend two years as an active member of the Oberlin Student Cooperative Association, learning how to work, eat, and live communally and with a deep regard for the common good. They already miss cooking up delicious and inventive meals for their 100+ person dining co-op and are excited to bring this love language to their new circle in the Driftless bioregion. Will is a writer, dancer, weaver, and active contributor to every community she lands in, and she is beyond thrilled to give her time and energy to the work of the Driftless Folk School this year!
